In other news, the Trump administration has given its blessing for short-term insurance policies to be extended for up to 12 months! If the bill proposed by the administration passes, it would be great news for people that have or need extended short-term insurance while in between jobs or for a host of other reasons.

There is however, opposition to this new option. Those who oppose it believe that many healthy people may move over to short-term health insurance from Obamacare, thus lessening the pool of healthy clients on Obamacare and state run exchanges. This reduction in healthy Obamacare policyholders has the potential to raise prices for the program even higher.

However, for states that accept the Trump administration’s proposal to extend short-term health insurance, residents in those states may have the option to select extended short-term health insurance plans that may be more in line with their personal needs.
